Early this month, our prayers were answered in an amazing way! Our little girl Rebecca was given gene therapy to treat her Spinal Muscular Atrophy. When we received the call from Rebecca’s doctor that her name was selected from a worldwide list, we were completely overcome with emotion. God made a way when there seemed to be no way.
It’s incredible what you learn when you’re in a deep valley and you must continue to have faith in what seems impossible. I had wondered, "Would my daughter ever be able to get this life-changing medication?" Knowing that He is Sovereign over all gave me peace and allowed me to trust Him with what would happen. He provided something good in a difficult situation. Although we cannot say why she was born with SMA, God is using Rebecca and her story. His way is greater than ours and He cares about His children. Her life story thus far has reached thousands of people. And what’s been displayed is that there is power in prayer.
The difficulties in our journey with Rebecca are far from over. Rebecca will need lots of therapy as she grows in strength. We ask for continued prayers that the medication works the best way possible in her body. What an amazing day it would be if I could see my little girl walk over to me! Nothing is too big for the Great Physician and I have that hope. Let her life be a living testimony of God doing more than anyone could ever imagine!
