Praying Friends,
Thank you for joining us in prayer for revival and for our prodigals.
If you are anything like me, the words of Paul in Philippians 4 on worry are very personal. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
The Greek word for anxious is merimnao (mer-im-nah-o) used in many New Testament references and is derived from the root word meaning, "to divide the mind.”
It is the word Jesus used when He said, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious, [you are worried] and troubled about many things.” What is Jesus saying? “Martha your mind has been divided and distracted by the seemingly unfair circumstances; by the hurtful wrong actions of your sister; by the lies that God doesn’t know or care about what is happening to you.” Her mind was in turmoil, and unrest; this is worry!
I confess that there are many things that have been distracting me lately. Lots of fears and difficulties I don’t understand and can’t figure out. What shall I do? What can you do?
Get into his presence and pray! Do it today. Do it many times today. Do it each and every day. Do it when the worry comes. Do it again and again as often as you need to and let His peace guard your heart. Pray with confidence. God is able.
Love in Christ,
Bryan and Rachel
